The Descent

The Descent is an exciting new Post trip where campers will explore the Ape Caves of Mt. St. Helens. We will leave in carpools (driven by chaperones) from Alder at 9:00 AM on the 30th. We will be car camping for one night in Beaver Bay Campground in Gifford-Pinchot National Forest. On the 30th we will go to the Lava Canyon Suspension Bridge and on the 31st we will explore the caves. We will return to Garfield in the evening on the 31st. Campers need to bring their own food and tents to sleep in; food and tent groups can be organized at the pre-trip meeting. There is a mandatory pre-trip meeting on Wednesday May 27th at 7:00 PM in the Commons. A packing list will be distributed at the meeting. Post has lots of gear we can lend you if you don’t have some of the items. Please turn this form into the Career Center by May 21st. Like all Post trips, there will be chaperones (5) on this trip as well as our Post student staff, who are all Mountaineer Oriented First Aid trained.

Make sure you fill out a district permission slip and turn it in with the descent form! We will not be missing any school but you still need one. Also make sure you are a mountaineers member!
